Amritsar: With a mission to record the events of India-Pakistan partition during 1947, a research scholar from United States, Guneeta Singh Bhalla, on Friday visited Khalsa College to get first hand information on turbulent days.

The scholar met library head Dr Inderjit Singh Gagoani who shared valuable and useful information pertaining to 1947 history. Bhalla also took into account various sites and college campus as this knowledge centre had been converted into a temporary shelter for thousands of homeless people heading to India after partition.

Bhalla revealed that she had already travelled Bangladesh and Pakistan and had so far interacted with around 3,000 people who stood witness to the partition era. She plans to meet 5,000 people who could divulge the details pertaining to the bloodshed that had transpired in 1947.

She is currently working as an executive director in US based ‘ the 1947 partition archive’. Bhalla had been post-doctoral researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Library in University of California.
