Women outnumber men in Baba Bakala

Amritsar: Of the 11 assembly segments falling under Amritsar, the female voters in Baba Bakala segment took the lead exercising their franchise and outpaced their male counterparts thus setting an example for others to follow.

In Baba Bakala, there are a total 92,880 male registered voters, and 78,723 female voters. However, out of these just 70,025 male voters came forward to vote in just concluded assembly polls on February 4. On the other hand 60,101 females casted their votes and took part in democratic process.

In all the 11 assembly constituencies, Amritsar(Central) recorded the lowest number of votes polled. In this segment, only 49,663 male voters opted to exercise their right of franchise and just 40,785 female voters took part in polling.

The maximum number of voters taking part was witnessed in Raja Sansi segment in Amritsar where 1, 31,832 voters polled votes.
