Sikh stabbed to death in New Zealand

Chandigarh:A Sikh youth Hardeep Singh Deol, from Rania of Sirsa was stabbed to death by a girl at Christchurch in New Zealand on December 25. The family members of youngsters are disgruntled a lot over delay in arrival of his body at native place.

The family has been in touch with Indian High Commission in New Zealand as well as New Zealand High Commission in India for help but to no avail.

With no means to bringing their loved one Hardeep Singh’s body back to India, the family has tweeted to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj pleading for the government help.

Hardeep Singh Deol, who was on work visa in Christchurch after completing a course in Hotel Management. Deol was allegedly stabbed by a 22-year-old girl on Christmas day.

According to information received by the family, the girl was arrested and has been charged with murder.

Hardeep was taken to a hospital with critical stab wounds where he died on Tuesday.

“He did his B Tech from a private college in Malout and went to New Zealand to pursue his studies in hotel management. Three months back, he completed his degree and got a job in a hotel in Christchurch. He told us that he has Christmas vacations for 15 days starting December 25. But on the night of his first vacation, he was stabbed and fatally injured,” said Hardeep’s uncle Manpreet Singh Deol.

“He never told his family members about the girl, identified as Franchesca Kororia Borell by the police. After his death, his Indian friends in New Zealand told us that Hardeep knew the girl for the past 15-20 days,” Manpreet said.

He said Hardeep’s mother Sukhwinder Kaur and sister Sandeep Kaur were inconsolable and the delay in arrival of his body is making their condition worse.“We are going to Delhi to meet Swaraj today,” said Manpreet.
