Anushka-Diljit's Film "Phillauri" Hit in the North

New Delhi, March 28, 2017 - Anushka Sharma's second production, Phillauri, is doing well in the North because of its rustic humour and Diljit Dosanjh's stardom.

Despite the widely successful #ShashiWasThere marketing campaign, Anushka Sharma's second production venture Phillauri opened lower than expected, although it picked up over the weekend. Given that the film was made on a tight budget, it began making profits from the second day itself, having recovered over half its cost from satellite and music rights even before its release. The film raked in around Rs 2.02 crore on Monday.

Directed by debutante director Anshai Lal, the supernatural drama also stars Suraj Sharma, Diljit Dosanjh and Mehreen Pirzada, apart from Anushka. Anushka plays friendly spirit Shashi who finds herself in the midst of a grand Punjabi wedding after the groom accidentally 'marries' her by marrying the tree she resides in, to get rid of his manglik dosh.

Since Phillauri is set in Punjab and is sprinkled with rustic humour, the film is doing very well in the North. Diljit's popularity (he is a superstar in Punjab) is also helping Phillauri make money in those parts.
