Ex-schoolmate offers lift to woman, rapes her, booked

Gurgaon: A 20-year-old B.Com second year student approached police, accusing her former schoolmate of raping her on the pretext of giving a lift to college on his bike. The accused was also alleged to have videographed the rape survivor in a compromised position, and of forcing her to promise him marriage in writing. He also threatened to release the video on the Internet if she confided of the incident to anyone.
Farrukhnagar police have lodged an FIR. The accused was reportedly absconding when police conducted raids to nab him.
According to police, the woman is resident of a village near Farrukhnagar. On Thursday morning, while she was waiting for transport at Farrukhnagar bus stand to take her to her college, Agrasen college in Jhajjar, to appear for an examination, her former schoolmate Anil Kumar, a resident of Jahidpur village in Jhajjar, approached her on a Hero Splendor bike and offered her a lift to her college, saying he was going the same way.
Innocently, she accepted the offer. She alleged that rather than taking the usual route, he rode to a section of Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) expressway saying it was a short cut, took her to a house at a place and raped her. The woman further alleged the accused videographed her and made her put her signature and thumb impression on a piece of paper, accepting she would marry him."After this, he dropped took an U-turn and released her at Farrukhnagar bus stand. He threatened her that if she confided about the incident to anyone, he would release the video clip on the Internet. When she reached home, she told her father of her ordeal, and they approached police," said the girl in her complaint.
After receiving the complaint, the police had a medical examination conducted on her, which confirmed rape. An FIR has been registered against Anil Kumar under sections 376 (rape), 366 (abduction), 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC."The accused is reportedly absconding from his house. Our teams are conducting raids to nab him. He will be arrested soon," said inspector Vinod Kumar, Farrukhnagar SHO police station.
