Leaking pipeline floods Sector 45 with sewage

Even after complaining to civic authorities for more than three months about sewage water flowing on to their colony road, residents of Sector-45 have got no relief from the problem.
More than 200 families living in the locality are facing a lot of inconvenience in commuting as the 18-metre main road is submerged with dirty water leaking from the sewage pipeline of neighbouring Kanhai village.
“We have held many protests in the past three months and also written letters to the Municipal Corporation of Haryana (MCG) and Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda), but no action has been taken,” said Surinder Kaushik, general secretary, Sector-45 RWA.
Residents said the sewage water sometimes enters their house.
“The dirty water from the neighbouring village is harming the environment. It is difficult to live in the area because of the foul smell,” said a resident of the area.
The stagnant water has turned into a breeding ground of mosquitoes.
“We complained to the Huda and MCG many times. On Sunday, the junior engineer visited the sector and tried to solve the problem but the water is still stagnant,” Vikram Seth, a resident of the sector.
Residents said the sewage problem has aggravated the menace of stray pigs and dogs.
Huda officials, meanwhile, said they have told the contractor to solve the problem at the earliest.
“We are seeing that the problem is solved at the earliest. The residents will soon get relief from sewage water from the neighbouring village flooding the road,” said a senior Huda official.
