CM for report on measures to deal with traffic chaos

Faridabad: Chief Minister Manohar Lal today asked Rohit Baluja, Director, Institute of Road Traffic Education (IRTE) to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) on the measures required to effectively deal with the traffic related problems in Faridabad and Gurgaon. However, the CM did not specify any time limit for the report.

Speaking at a seminar on traffic issues here, the CM stressed on the need to prepare a long-term plan to reduce road accidents and make travel safe.

Admitting problems in enforcement of traffic rules and regulations, he said the traffic police should be prepared to deal with any situation that might disrupt smooth traffic movement.

Experts also stressed the need for traffic engineering along with enforcement and awareness of traffic rules.

SK Sharma, district coordinator of the Road Safety Organisation (RSO), said the government had failed to implement or enforce any plan so far despite the fact that commuting had become difficult in cities like Faridabad and Gurgaon.
