CM’s Window assigns probe to ‘accused’ officer

Mahendragarh: The CM Window authority in Narnaul has assigned an inquiry of a complaint to an officer against whom serious allegations have been levelled in the complaint.

The Progressing Private School Owners’ Association, Narnaul, stated it had, on September 1, lodged a complaint with the CM window against District Education Officer (DEO) Mukesh Lawania for conducting an unfair inquiry of its complaint against a private school.

“We were astonished to see the status of the complaint the next day, as it was assigned to the DEO against whom charges of shielding the erring school owner by presenting false information during the inquiry have been made in the complaint,” said Atar Singh Yadav, spokesman of the association.

He said they had demanded a high-level probe into the matter.“How can such an officer investigate a complaint in which he himself is an accused? A fair inquiry cannot be expected if the DEO, who is also looking after the charge of the DEEO, investigates our complaint,” said Yadav.

The association, in a complaint filed at the CM window on July 27, alleged a private senior secondary school in Narnaul made admissions of over 2,000 children by misleading their parents. They alleged it did not have the affiliation to the CBSE.

“The complaint was first sent to the BEO, Ateli, for inquiry, but it was withdrawn midway by the DEO with an intention to shield the erring school owner. Later, the DEO himself inquired the complaint and disposed it off without any action against the school,” said Yadav.

Meanwhile, Lawania said a panel had been formed to inquire the complaint filed by the association, but refused to comment on the allegations levelled against him.
