Haryana to recruit 1,500 drivers and 903 storemen on contract: Krishan Lal Panwar.

Chandigarh: The government would soon recruit 1,500 drivers and 903 storemen on contract basis, said Haryana Transport Minister Krishan Lal Panwar.

A written communication has   been sent to the Haryana Staff Selection Commission for regular recruitment of conductors and the process would begin soon, he added.

Panwar, who was addressing the media persons on Friday, said that drivers to be engaged on contract basis would be paid Rs 15,000 per month. Earlier, the government had recruited 413 drivers on contract basis who have already joined.

He said that although all demands of employees’ Union were accepted in a meeting held with them yet they participated in the strike which was not right. He said that there had been a mixed response to the call for strike throughout the State. Since morning, more than 50 per cent buses, that is 1600 buses, had been plying on their routes and the remaining buses had started plying by afternoon. Besides, the Department had directed to ply 850 private buses on various routes to facilitate people.

Panwar said that soon 1,300 new buses would be purchased and 20 new Volvo super luxury buses would be deployed. He said that approval has been given to   pay night allowance to crew members who operate buses and have a night halt beyond 25 kms. Apart from this, the process was on to grant LTC to employees for block years 2016-19. Allowance of Rs 1000 each for shoes and uniform would soon be given to the employees.

The Transport Minister said that the State Government has accepted the main demand to regularise 8,200 drivers and conductors working since 2003. Also, decision   on National Pension Scheme would soon be taken. On the demand of employees, the State Government has released bonus for the year 2013-14 whereas bonus for 2014-15 would soon be released, he added.
