Punjab-Railways Ranji match ends in draw

Chandigarh: The four-day Group A Ranji Trophy match between Punjab and Railways fizzled out into a tame draw at the Palam Ground in New Delhi today. Required to score 362 runs for victory Punjab scored 170 for 3 in 58 overs.

Uday Kaul and Mandeep Singh remained not out on 61 (6x4s) and 41 (4x4s, 2x6s). Jiwanjot contributed 33 valuable runs.

Earlier, Railways, resuming their second innings at 180 for 2, declared at 245 for 7 in 81.2 overs. Shivakant Shukla, overnight 83, was unlucky to miss century by just three runs as he was bowled by Siddarth Kaul. His knock of 97 was studded with 11 boundaries one one six. Saurabh Wakaskar, who had retired hurt on 56 on the third day's play, was out for 57. Mahesh Rawat scored 48 runs.

On the basis of their first innings lead of 116 runs, Railways garnered three points and Punjab got only one point.
