‘Scientific Advances for Inclusive Development and Environmental Protection’ Science Assembly Over

The 21st Punjab Science Assembly on “Scientific Advances forInclusive Development and Environmental Protection” organized under the aegisof Punjab Academy of Sciences (PAS), Patiala finished at Punjab AgriculturalUniversity (PAU) yesterday.


The entire session III on “Inclusive Development and HumanHealth” was directed by Ex Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jai Rup Singh of Guru Nanak DevUniversity (GNDU)Amritsar where he said - “Punjabis have been serving thenation, but in return they are suffering. There is shortage of good doctors inPunjab. As per the statistical data of Indian Medical Association, the countryhas seven doctors for the population of 10,000.”


Pointing out the medical scams in India, he said “Vyapam Scam(2012) in Madhya Pradesh is not only in that state but in every state of Indiaand even in privatization.”Dr. Jai Rup Singh further observed that HarvardUniversity’s budget is higher than India’s education budget. In India, academiesstill struggle to get salaries from the government. He stressed on promotingscientific anger and thinking among the people and praised the PAU and PunjabAcademy of Sciences for organizing this Science Congress.


Dr. Baldev Singh Dhillon (Vice-Chancellor– PAU) gave presentation on ‘Green Revolution and Thereafter: Achievements andMyth.’

On this occasion Dr. AS Nanda(Vice-Chancellor, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University(GADVASU), was the Chief Guest.
