PUNJAB GOVERNMENT IMPOSE COMPLETE BAN ON MANUFACTURE OF PLASTIC MADE INDIAN NATIONAL FLAG IN STATE

The Punjab Government imposed complete ban on manufacturing and holding of plastic- made national flags in the State.

Disclosing this here an official Spokesman of Government said that the use/display of the Indian National flag is governed by the Flag Code of India 2002, which is compendium of executive instructions issued from time to time, covering various aspects of use/display of the National flag. He said that as per flag code Flag shall be made of hand spun and hand woven wool or cotton or silk khadi bunting but on many occasions of important National, cultural, sports events the Flag made of paper may be waved by public, However, such Paper Flag should not be discarded or thrown on the ground after the event, as far as possible it should be disposed of in the private consistent with the dignity of flag. large scale of use of plastic made Indian National Flag by the common public including children has, however, been observed during these occasion. These plastic made Indian flags are found discarded or thrown on the ground after the event. This affects the dignity of the national flag.

He said in this context and in compliance of the direction of High Court of Bombay, the State Government has imposed complete ban on the manufacturing and holding of Plastic made Indian National Flags.
