Police crack gang war, arrest two accomplices of Bhalu gang

Jalandhar: The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police on Tuesday claimed to have solved the firing incident of gangster Pancham Noor and arrested two key members of Bhalu gang. Commissioner of Police Arpit Shukla said that two gangsters namely Kulwinder Singh, resident of Vinay Nagar and Pankaj Sehdev from Gulmarg Colony were arrested. However, the kingpin of the gang, Bhalu was still at large. Pancham Noor, who was going to Cool Road, was shot at by Gursharan Singh Bhalu in the busy BMC Chowk area of city on January 22 morning. He sustained bullet injuries and was rushed to DMC Ludhiana, where he was under treatment.

Addressing a press conference, Arpit Shukla said that the duo has confessed that Bhalu gang carried out the firing incident. “Bhalu gang was after Pancham Noor and tried to follow him on Saturday also. Though, they followed him but Pancham managed to flee because of heavy security in the city,” he said. The Commissioner of Police also said that they recovered two pistols and some live cartridges from the possession of the two gangsters. “On Sunday morning, rival gangsters of Bhalu gang namely Gursharan Singh Bhalu, Monu Dhaba, Kulwinder Singh Babbu and Deepak Sehdev who were riding motorbikes waylaid Pancham Noor on Cool Road and opened fire on him with moments,” he said.

Arpit Shukla maintained that Bhalu and Pancham were friends turned foe. “Both were close friends but later parted ways. They used to commit crime together but after some altercation, they parted way and became rivals in crime. At present, duo was running their own gangs and were notorious for various crimes in the area,” the Commissioner of Police said.
