114 challans issued under tobacco Act, says Deputy Commissioner

Ludhiana, July 28, 2017 - The monthly meeting of the District Health Committee was held here today, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Pardeep Agarwal.

Addressing the meeting, Civil Surgeon Hardeep Singh Ghai said the efforts were being made to encourage the institutional deliveries. He said the rate of deliveries at home was 6 per cent in the district, out of which 4 per cent deliveries were done by skill birth attendants. The department was committed to reducing the rate of deliveries at home to 1-2 per cent. He said full benefits were given under the Janani Suraksha Yojana and Janani-Shishu Suraksha Karyakram. Under the Pre-Natal Diagnostic Test (PNDT) Act, three ultrasound centres have been sealed and 114 challans were issues under the Tobacco Control Act.
