Petrol pump looted at gunpoint; Second incident in the past one week

Ludhiana, July 31, 2017 - A petrol pump was looted by three bike-borne miscreants at Bhambia Kalan on Tajpur Road late evening.

The police reached the spot and have sounded alert in the city. The Sardar Kesar Singh Grewal Fuel Station is owned by BJP leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal. Sukhminderpal is the general secretary of the All-India BJP Kisan Morcha.

He said the incident occurred around 8.15 pm, when three masked and armed bike-borne persons came and by the time the fuel station employee could ask them anything, two of them took out their weapons and took the fuel station employee at gunpoint.

Apart from fuel station employee, other people on two wheelers and four wheelers were also present at the pump. Fearing threat to life, some people opted to leave the station in a hurry, while others witnessed the entire incident.

Armed robbers threatened the employees that they would shoot at them due to which one of them handed over the bag containing Rs60,000 cash.

“We could only notice the last number of the bike Passion Pro — 6337. The entire incident was recorded in the CCTV cameras and the police are verifying the footage to identify the robbers,” Sukhminderpal said.

Police clueless in July 15 loot case as well

This is the second incident of petrol pump loot in two weeks. On July 15, 2017, four armed robbers on two bikes looted Jagjit Fuel Centre near Shivpuri Chowk. They fled with Rs70,000 from fuel station employees. CCTV footage of the incident had also gone viral and the police are still clueless in the case.

Carjacking at gunpoint on Ferozepur Road

Ludhiana: A car was snatched at gunpoint by two armed youths from a bizman at Ferozepur Road late night. However, it was later found abandoned near Ayali village. The police have been verifying the matter. ACP Ramandeep Singh Bhullar said a probe was on to inquire if the bizman had any enmity with the armed men or there was some other reason. Police sources said Tarun Kumar was sitting in his car near Western Mall on Ferozepur Road with a girl, when two youths took Tarun at gunpoint and sat with them in the car. They asked Tarun to drive the car towards South City and threatened to kill him. Tarun drove the car towards South City and when they reached near Congress MLA Rakesh Pandey's house, they forcibly snatched Rs 12,000 and a gold ring from Tarun and then threw him and the girl on the road and fled with the car. Sources said they had also thrashed the boy and even tried to physically harass the girl. The police sounded an alert and found the car abandoned on a road near Ayali village after an hour.
