Poll expenditure observer Jyotiraditya holds meeting with student volunteers

Mohali: In view of the Punjab Assembly elections on February 4, to keep a close watch on election campaign being run through social media (Facebook, Twitter and Youtube etc), eight students have been deputed as volunteer observers. These volunteer observers will report directly to Election Expenditure observer for any kind of unapproved election campaign being run by the contesting candidates on social media, so that strict implementation of model code of conduct can be ensured. This was stated by Election Expenditure Observer Jyotiraditya while conducting a meeting with volunteer student observers at district administrative complex.

Jyotiraditya said that student volunteer observers would keep a close watch on election campaign being run by party leader or party workers through social media and report the same. He said that these student observers would assist the election commission for monitoring the election process.

Jyotiraditya said that no party leader or party worker was authorised to publish any kind of election campaign related material like poster, advertisement, video, audio, comment and URL links etc. without the pre-approval of Media Certification and Monitoring Committee. He said that citizens could approach him at room no. 414, third floor at district administrative complex, SAS Nagar, regarding any kind of election related complaint/ suggestion. Besides this, any kind of election related information/ suggestion could also be provided at mobile number 98727-56715.
