Congress confused over Lal Singh’s demand for 2 tickets

Patiala: Even after declaration of 77 candidates, the Congress seems to be in quandary as it could not put up candidates in Sanour and Samana constituencies of this district. As many as six candidates have been announced for contesting in the same number of constituencies in Patiala district.

Party sources said that Vice-President of the Congress Lal Singh was adamant to get another ticket for his son Rajinder Singh. As the father wanted to contest from Sanour he wanted to field his son from Samana.

Sources said that the party was in a difficult situation as it had announced the principle of one ticket to one family. Captain Amarinder Singh too wanted a seat for his son Raninder Singh and one for wife Preneet Kaur. His demand was denied by the party high command. It appears difficult for Lal Singh to succeed in his effort. Lal Singh has threatened that if his son was not allotted the Samana seat, he too would not contest from Sanour. Lal Singh enjoys a good rapport with the high command as he had accomplished which ever task was given to him. For record six times he won from Sanour. As Lal Singh’s decision was helping the opposition, but at the same time Congress was put to worries.

It is reported that Congress high command comprising Rahul Gandhi were inclined to accept the demand of former minister as he was so sure of victory from Sanour and Samana.

It is worth keeping in mind that Samana constituency has 54 villages which were earlier a part of Dakala constituency. Lal Singh has good influences of these villages.

Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra of the SAD stands to gain if Lal Singh does not contest from Sanour from where Harinder Pal Singh Chandumajra has been allotted ticket by the SAD.
