PRTC to phase out 2004 model buses: MD

Patiala:Newly appointed Managing Director (MD) of the Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC), Ravinder Singh (IAS) on Wednesday claimed that the Corporation had decided to improve its present system under which it was decided to phase out all the old buses of 2004 model and seven new buses every month would be added. He disclosed while talking exclusively to the Daily Post after assuming the charge of his office here.

He said that the Corporation was inducting 100 new buses in its fleet of buses and out of this 25 had already been put on the routes and remaining 75 would follow soon. He claimed that with the induction of these buses the service of the PRTC was going to improve a lot.

Ravinder Singh said that while following the guidelines of the state government PRTC had inducted 50 new buses exclusively for rural routes and these buses would cater to the need of the people living in the rural areas. He said that earlier on the people living in the rural areas have a grudge over it that their areas were not given adequate attention in providing transportation facilities but now they would get their due.

He said that besides the Corporation had also decided to go for the renovation of its buses of 2007 model. He said that the Corporation would try to provide them a good look, renovate their engines and bodies if required.
