Regular classes resume in Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan school in Salt Lake

KOLKATA: Classes from Preparation (Prep) 1 to Class X resumed after a gap of two weeks at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan School on Tuesday. The school was closed since August 2 after an agitation by guardians and parents following the death of two primary section students from dengue. Class XI and class XII classes had however resumed last Wednesday after an inspection by the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation authorities last Tuesday in which the civic authorities had declared the school premise free from mosquito larvae.

Several students of the primary section went to the school wearing full sleeve shirt and gray trousers or track pants as the school authorities had allowed the students to wear so. Students and guardians alike seemed to be overall happy over the steps that the school authorities have's taken, saying that this should be maintained.

Earlier, the school authorities had decided to suspend classes after the civic authorities found mosquito larvae inside the school campus. The issue that the school compound was very unhygienic and was a ground for breathing of mosquito larvae was put up by the parents and guardians in an agitation after a class I girl student and class IV boy student of the school died from dengue.
